Printed sail graphics or stickers — which should you choose?
Print when the graphic should stay with the sail. Use a textile sticker when the message will change. Printing gives the lowest weight and the longest life; a sticker gives you the ability to swap a sponsor without touching the cloth underneath.
The honest comparison
Printed graphics: lowest added weight, best for racing sails, best for full-coverage artwork, permanent. Textile stickers: applied and removed, ideal for event fleets, match racing, charter boats and campaigns where the sponsor rotates, at the cost of some extra weight and a defined lifetime.
Neither is the better product in general. They answer different questions.
When a sticker is clearly right
Event fleets where the same boats carry different sponsors each weekend. Match-race circuits. A sponsor signed for one season on a sail with three seasons left in it. Any case where removing the graphic cleanly is part of the requirement.
When printing is clearly right
Racing sails where weight is being counted. Full-sail artwork. A team identity that belongs to the boat rather than to a contract.
